UPSC- Union Public Service Commission organizes SCRA (Special Class Railway Apprentice) exam for 4 yrs apprentice in Indian railway. In this Exam around 1, 00000 students participate per year in which only about 100 students get selection.

Essential Criteria: Candidates must be 12th passed with 1st or 2nd division in maths, phy.or chem.

Age Limitation: Candidates must be between 17yrs-21 yrs.

Fee Structure: Candidates have to give Rs.100/- as an application fee. It should be submitted in any SBI branch in cash or via net banking of SBI / State Bank of Hyderabad /State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur / State Bank of Patiala / State Bank of Mysore / State Bank of Travancore via Visa / Master Debit / Credit card. There is no fee for Female / PH / SC / ST candidates.

Mode of Selection: Selection of candidates is based on the Written Exam, Personality Test or Interview & after verifying Document Verification.

Special Features: After selection candidates have to experience hard training course of 4 yrs in  Engg. They are sent to MoU with BIT, Mesra, Ranchi. There they have to follow semester criteria and attend the workshop in vacations at BIT, Mesra. In the meanwhile they receive the fellowship of Rs.4000-4400 which later reaches to Rs.7400/-. They also get benefit passes, PTOs & medical facilities. Then they are enlisted in Mech. Engineers (IRSME) in the Indian Railways. After this training they get Graduation degree of Mechanical Engg. In 2013 the exam was held in January, 2013 and final selection is done after Interview & Personality test which is to be held in July of this year. For 2014 exam we will update you soon.

Application Process: After selection candidates will have to fill the Application Forms (DAF), which is prescribed on the website of UPSC http://www.upsc.gov.in. Special Class Railway Apprentices' (SCRA) is referred as the ancient board in the country. The candidates have to face touch process after only few ones get selection. It is organized by Union Public Service Commission of the country. It provides UG course in Mechanical Engg at the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical & Electrical Engg, Jamalpur. It was opened in 1927.The exam includes written test in English Lang., Maths, Chemistry, Physics, GK & Mental Ability Test. Candidates which are selected have to face an Interview & then a medical test. The candidates have to prepare class 12th course to appear in the exam.
