Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (or PDPU) is a private university established by the Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute through a State Act. At present, the university has six schools and two centres.

Eligibility Criteria : Interested candidates for the admission to Ph.D. Programme of the University
are required to have minimum educational qualification as mentioned hereunder:
For research in an area of Engg./ Technology : First Class/CPI of 6.5/ aggregate 60% marks either at B. Tech. or at M. Tech./M.E. equivalent level, & M. Tech./M.E. or equivalent in appropriate area will be considered.
For research in an area of Sciences : First Class/CPI of 6.5/ aggregate 60% marks in M.Sc. or equivalent level equivalent in appropriate area will be considered.
For research in an area of Management : First Class/CPI of 6.5/ aggregate 60% marks either at a Bachelor degree or at M.B.A. / M.Tech./M.E./A.C.A./A.I.C.W.A./A.C.S. level equivalent level, & M.B.A./ M.Tech./M.E./A.C.A./A.I.C.W.A./A.C.S will be considered.
For research in an area related to Liberal Studies : (English Language & Literature, Public Administration and Public Policy, Economics, Psychology, Political Science, & International Relations) M. A. with aggregate 55% or its equivalent in an appropriate area will be considered.
Research Areas : School of Solar Energy: Thin films, Photo Voltaic, Materials for Solar Cell, High capacity Li ion battery and Super capacitors, Data validation of megawatt scale Solar PV power plant, DSSC School of Technology : Elect. Engg.: Power System Protection; Power electronics, Electrical machines, Image and Video Processing, Computer Vision, Embedded Systems. Civil Engg.: Geotechnical Engg, Water Resources and Hydraulics. Sciences: Solid State Physics, Material Science, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science. Mech. Engg.: Metallurgy, Welding, Thermal Engineering.
Fee structure : Fees for a single Application : Rs. 2000/-
Selection Process : A discipline wise (e.g. Civil Engg./Management) written Research Aptitude Test will be held on 6 June 2013 in SPT-1 building of the University campus from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m which will be followed by Personal Interview on the same day from 1:30 p.m onwards.
