The Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) is the only technology Institute in India which caters to the entire spectrum of fisheries from harvest It was set up in 1954 and started functioning at Cochin in 1957.  Research centers function at Veraval (Gujarat), Visakhapatnam (AP), Burla (Orissa), Mumbai (Maharashtra).
 
 Eligible candidates are invited for the post JRF/ Field/Technical Assistant 

1.Senior Research Fellow –1 Post

Fellowship : Rs.16,000/-+ 20 % HRA

Qualification:

• The candidate must be M F Sc. /M. Sc.Marine Biology, Biological oceanography, Fisheries

• He must have two years research experience in phytoplankton identification, species diversity analysis, size fractionation and its bio-optical studies and willing to go on-board frequently in commercial  traditional canoes, fishing boats and fishery research vessels.

2.Junior Research Fellow – No. of post-1

Fellowship : Rs.12,000/-+ 20% HRA

Qualification:

 The candidate must be M. Sc. Chemical Oceanography/Physical Oceanography / Hydrochemistry/ Marine Chemistry and willing  to go onboard frequently in commercial traditional canoes, fishing boats and fishery research vessels.

Desirable Experience : Experience in data collection on-board fishery research vessels, estimation of bio optical characteristics of chlorophylls and seawater, satellite data retrieval validation and remote sensing.

3.Field/Technical Assistant–No. of post-1

Fellowship : Rs.12,000/- p.m

Qualification:

 The candidate must be B.F. Sc. / B. Sc. Chemistry/ Fisheries/ Zoology and  willing to go on board frequently in commercial traditional canoes, fishing boats and fishery research vessels for sampling and to undergo strenuous field work.

Age limit : 35 yrs

How to apply

Interested candidates should bring detailed bio-data affixing a recent passport size photograph. Walk-in interview will be held on 11th April, 2013 at 09.30 a.m. at the CIFT, Cochin.

Terms & Conditions:

1.Registration will begin at 8.30a.m for SRF & JRF and will close at 11.00 a.m.

2.Registration will begin at 11.00 a.m for Field/Technical Assistant and will close at 11:00 p.m.

3.Age limit (as on 11.04.2013): Below 35 years for men and 40 years for women.

4.Age relaxation of 3 year for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates is permissible.

5.Candidates have  to submit self attested copies of all the documents  in support of their claims concerning age, educational qualifications, scheduled caste/scheduled tribe/OBC etc. The original documents  shall be produced for verification before the interview.

6.The selected candidate will be recruited on contract basis under ICAR norms. The post is purely temporary and is co-terminus with the project.
