Kolkata is the oldest major port in the country. But the nucleus of the present day Kolkata Port lies much earlier - with the grant of trading rights to the British Settlement in Eastern India by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

The affairs of the Port were brought under the administrative control of the Government with the appoinment of a Port Commission in 1870. Kolkata Port Trust remains one of the pioneering and most promising ports of India. It commands a vast hinterland that comprises almost half of the Indian states (whole of the eastern and north-eastern regions) and the two neighbouring countries - the Himalayan Kingdoms of Nepal and Bhutan. It has two dock systems - Kolkata Dock System at Kolkata with the oil wharves at Baj Baj and Haldia Dock Complex at Haldia - have a combination of facilities with a lot of attractive packages.

Recruitment  are invited from Kolkata Port Trust  Commanders, Dredger & Despatch Service at Kolkata Dock System.

Eligibility : Candidates having Master’s (F.G.) Certificate or Service Certificate as Master (F.G.) from Indian Navy or Dredge Master Gr.I Certificate can apply.

Maximum Age : 40 yrs ( 45 yrs for Ex. Naval Officer) as on 1.4.13

Salary : 36600-62000/-(during probation period)

Important Note
1. The gross salary of the new entrant to the post of Probationary Commander is likely to be Rs. 1,00.000/-(approximately) inclusive of Marin Allowance. 
2. The incumbents in addition to their salary will also be entitled to LTC. Leave Encashment , Gratuity, Non-Contributory Provident Fund and Medical facilities for self and family

3.The age limit will be relaxable for 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates.

4. The selected candidates will be required to execute a BOND prior to joining KoPT. 
5. Photocopies of caste, educational and professional qualification certificates, age proof certificate should be attached.
